Microneedling is a derma roller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin.
It is an effective form of rejuvenation, tackling scarrings, such as acne scars or stretch marks, dark spots and freckles caused by the sun, as well as skin laxity, wrinkles, and large pores.
Either a manual roller or pen device is used in treatment in order to leave minute puncture wounds. These tiny punctures trigger the body’s wound-healing response and encourage the body to renew the skin cells in that area. While the body repairs the skin, it increases the production of collagen and elastin, immediately plumping the area and causing a diminishment of wrinkles. As the body repairs the skin you will also see scarring, dark marks and sun damage decreasing.
Recovery after this treatment depends on the length and density of the needles of the rollers used. The skin will be pink or red in appearance for 24-48 hours, much like a sunburn. The skin may also feel warm, tight and itchy for a short while. Some clients may experience mild peeling.
